Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee

Mission statement: The DUPA DEI Committee serves as a resource, advocate, and advisor for collaborative institutional endeavors for the purpose of improving DEI at Duke. Our mission is to:

  1. Create a welcoming community of friendship, collaboration, and academic excellence among all postdocs at Duke through DUPA
  2. Create and gather resources to improve DEI at Duke for postdocs
  3. Inform postdocs of available DEI trainings and, when needed, create and coordinate new offerings
  4. Advocate for postdocs by identifying and characterizing postdoctoral DEI issues at Duke, bringing those issues to the attention of the Duke Administration, creating a collaborative action plan toward addressing DEI issues, and reporting findings and developments back to postdocs
  5. Provide a safe space for postdocs to present DEI and working conditions issues and ensure postdocs are aware of the resources available to them to address such issues

Current members: Daniel Wieczynski (Chair, daniel dot wieczynski at duke dot edu), Sarah Hadyniak, Nicola Judge, and Emmy Reilly
