Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee
Mission statement: The DUPA DEI Committee serves as a resource, advocate, and advisor for collaborative institutional endeavors for the purpose of improving DEI at Duke. Our mission is to:
- Create a welcoming community of friendship, collaboration, and academic excellence among all postdocs at Duke through DUPA
- Create and gather resources to improve DEI at Duke for postdocs
- Inform postdocs of available DEI trainings and, when needed, create and coordinate new offerings
- Advocate for postdocs by identifying and characterizing postdoctoral DEI issues at Duke, bringing those issues to the attention of the Duke Administration, creating a collaborative action plan toward addressing DEI issues, and reporting findings and developments back to postdocs
- Provide a safe space for postdocs to present DEI and working conditions issues and ensure postdocs are aware of the resources available to them to address such issues
